ELEVENTH ASIAN SCIENCE CAMP - 2017

The Asian Science Camps aim at enlightening science talented youths through scientific discussion and dialogue with top scholars in the world   and promoting international friendship  and cooperation among the best young students of the next   generation in Asia, Australia and Oceania. The Asian Science Camp would invite Nobel Laureates and world- distinguished scientists as speakers and devise an interesting program for the participants. The program would include plenary sessions, parallel discussion sessions between Plenary Lectures and students, poster presentations, social activities and excursions.  The working language will be English.

Asian Science Camp 2017 is the eleventh of the series. The previous camps were successfully held at Taipei (2007), Bali (2008), Tsukuba (2009), Mumbai (2010), Daejeon (2011), Jerusalem (2012), Tsukuba (2013) , Singapore (2014), Thailand (2015) and India (2016). ASC 2017 will be held in Malaysia during 20-26 August, 2017 involving over 200 students from all over Asian countries.

Every year the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India is extending its support to 20 bright Indian students to participate in the ASC. The DST will cover all expenses towards (i) their travel to Malaysia and back, (ii) Domestic travel by 3rd AC from your institution to Bangalore and back. There will be no registration fee and the camp organising committee will provide the participants a local hospitality at the camp in Malaysia.

In this regard nominations from educational institutions are  invited/obtained  for  1-2 students  who are pursuing basic science course in (Physics/Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biology) in the 1st  year of B.Sc. / B.S. / Int. M.Sc. program during the academic year 2016-17.  The students have to be outstanding in Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics.  The students to be nominated should -

  1. be KVPY/INSPIRE Fellow
  2. have proficiency in oral as well as written English and show a genuine interest in Science and Research
  3. be able to attend the ASC - 2017 for the full duration
  4. have a valid passport with a validity till the end of February 2018 for travel to Malaysia  and
  5. have written consent from their parents and permission from Head of the educational institutions for taking part in the ASC -2017 at Malaysia

THIS IS FOR THE INFORMATION OF THE INSTITUTIONS FROM WHOM NOMINATIONS ARE SOUGHT.  INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS FROM THE STUDENTS  WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED.

Institutions are required to forward the application form sent to them separately duly filled-in furnishing the details of the students nominated, along with the relevant documents and recommendations.  The nominations have to be sent to  The Convener, KVPY, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru – 560 012 by Speed Post or Regd. Post on or before 25/04/2017.

The student selected for the ASC-2017 will likely be informed during end of May 2017.
